TALLAHASSEE -  Introduction of HB 137 - Offenses Committed While Operating a Motorcycle.     9:00AM-Noon, State House of Representatives, Provides additional penalties for certain offenses committed by person operating or in actual physical control of motorcycle; Original Filed Version    Requires person be taken into custody; provides for seizure & forfeiture of motorcycle; provides for revocation of person's privilege to operate a motorcycle for 10 yrs.  Associated SB 802 also provides: That  a person shall ride upon a motorcycle or moped only while sitting astride the seat, with both wheels on the ground at all times, facing forward, and with one leg on each side of the motorcycle or moped.  The license tag of a motorcycle or moped must be permanently affixed horizontally to the ground and may not be adjusted or capable of being flipped up.   Effective Date: October 1, 2008.  Web Site:  CLICK HERE   The legislation applies ONLY to motorcycles and their operators; no other motorized vehicle or driver operating on a public roadway is threatened with these penalties.
