Mary Duffey McKibbin, age 64, passed away on Saturday October 13, 2012 after an extended illness. She grew up in Homewood where she attended Shades Valley High School and graduated with honors in 1966. She graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 1970. While at the University, she was voted Outstanding Student in 1968 and became a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honorary. She was also active in student affairs and President of her sorority, Pi Beta Phi, beginning in her sophomore year. Mary and her husband John raised their four children in Crestline, and then moved to the Irondale area where they lived for the last 15 years. She is survived by her mother, Katherine White Duffey; husband, John R. McKibbin; sons, Scott McKibbin (Katie), Dr. Wm. Blake McKibbin (Linda); Rick McKibbin (Candice); daughter, Katherine McKibbin Greene (Mac); grandchildren Andrew McKibbin and Claire McKibbin; and brother, William Duffey, Jr. Funeral services for Mrs. McKibbin: Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation: Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 5 -7 PM at Valley Chapel.
