Protect your Car's Paint

If it's painted and it moves, it needs Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film

Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film is a clear and invisible car bra.  After painting and repairing thousands of bumpers that had chips from rocks and road debris, not to mention the damage caused by bugs, the Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film is a preventive cure for this problem. With the new water based paints that are now on most cars, these chips have become a number one concern to the car owner.

The cost of the film is minimal when you look at repainting your car as an alternative. Repainting the front end of the car not only can be costly but also lowers the value of the car.

The Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film will defend your vehicle's finish against frontal attacks of stones, rocks, abrasions, bug acids, salt and weathering.   It provides ideal CLEAR protection that allows the vehicle's color and brilliance to show through without altering the manufacturer's intended design characteristics.

The precision engineered patterns are specifically developed for vehicular paint protection and are made from a flexible, energy absorbent thermoplastic urethane film developed by the 3M Company. This rugged transparent material will Not Crack, Yellow, Shrink or Peel over time and is used by major automobile manufacturers including Ford, Porsche, Mitsubishi, Toyota and many others. The invisible paint protection film is removable. The excellent design and performance of  the film will significantly aid in sustaining the value and beauty of your vehicle over time.

Price range for materials and installation is approximately $400-$800 depending on your application (much less for small selected areas, i.e. mirrors & door edges).  Give us a call for  pricing of your vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

             Paint protection

Question:  Can it be removed?

Answer:  Yes. It can be removed easily and will not damage the paint. To remove the film, you must heat the surface to approximately 150 degrees F while working a corner of the film with your fingernail. Once you have enough of the material free from the surface to hold on to, slowly pull the film from the paint.

Question:  Will it really stop rocks from chipping the front of my car?

     Answer:  Yes.

Question:  Can I see a line where the shield stops?

Answer:   A line is slightly visible where the shield stops, but the three alternatives to that line are a bug shield, a bra, or rock chips.

Question:  How hard is it to see on the car after it is applied?

Answer:      The material is about 99.5% clear. The area on the hood where the film meets the paint is noticeable close up, but not from a short distance. On any color darker than stark white, you can barely see the film.

Question:  How long will it last? When will I have to replace the kit?

Answer:      It  has a 4-year warranty,

Question:  Will my paint fade differently under the shield than it does on the rest of the car?

Answer:  No. The material does contain an inhibitor to prevent the plastic from reacting to the sun's UV rays, but this does not prevent the UV rays from passing through the material into your car's paint.

Question:  Is this material safe to use on the new water based acrylic paints that are being used by manufacturers today?

Answer:   Yes. The material has no harmful effects on the paint and still provides the same level of protection.

Headlight protection

Question:  Can Scotchgard™ Paint Protection Film be used on headlights?

Answer:     No, it does not meet the Department of Transportation's standards for optical clarity.

             Longevity / Replacement

Question:  How long will the kits last? When will I need to replace the kit?

Answer:      The material these kits are made from is designed to last 8 years and longer. Since most people don't keep their cars for more than 4 years, in most cases there will be no need to ever replace the kit on the vehicle.
